Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Everyone has plans. Whether it is meal planning, vacation planning, choosing a career path or any other reason to look ahead, everyone, at some point, has had some sort of plan. Couples who fall in love might start planning to get married. Couples already married might start planning for kids. I recently, had plans to write a book or, at least something to that effect, but God was telling me that I should do this instead (for now). God also has a plan for your life.

So what happens when your plan does not line up with God's plan? What happens when your plans not only get interrupted, but get eradicated altogether? Does that mean that God is not there or does not care about your plans? He says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" and His plan is for us to "prosper" and is not to "harm" us. "Plans to give you hope and a future."

"But God... my future is to get married, have kids and grow old together with my wife. My hope is to be successful and be able to support my family. God, why is my hope and my future laying in a casket right now..."

I have said that several times over the last year and eight months since Kati passed. It is only recently that I stopped asking "why" as much and started asking "what." God, what do you want me to do? What are Your plans for my life? God's plans are not always our plans. His plans are infinitely greater than anything we can ever imagine. Does knowing this mean that everything that happens in life will be easy to deal with? I can assure you that is not what that means. But knowing that my hope and my future are a part of God's prosperous plan for my life helps.
